You want to work. We help make it manageable.

Start with the positive

You are here because you want to succeed.

You want to work, remain independent, earn an income and build something for yourself. That deserves to be recognised.

Running a small business or working for yourself can offer flexibility and control. It can also mean dealing with accounts, forms, customers, deadlines, websites, marketing and decisions that may feel overwhelming at times.

We help with the practical business tasks so you can spend more time focusing on the work you want to do.

Our starting point is your ability, your ambition and what you want to achieve.
We understand the business pressures

Small tasks can sometimes feel much bigger

Every person is different. These are examples of business tasks that some clients may find difficult during periods of anxiety or poor mental health.

Telephone calls

Making calls, answering unexpected calls or explaining something verbally under pressure.

Forms and paperwork

Long forms, official language, evidence requests and uncertainty about what information is expected.

Deadlines

Avoiding a task because it feels stressful, then facing more pressure as the deadline approaches.

Difficult conversations

Following up unpaid invoices, dealing with complaints or asking another business for information.

Business decisions

Worrying about making the wrong choice or feeling unable to decide between several options.

Too much at once

Several small tasks combining into one large and difficult-looking problem.

Practical adjustments

We adapt the process around you

The right approach is different for everyone. We discuss what helps and adjust our way of working where reasonably possible.

01

Gentle reminders

Friendly meeting reminders and follow-up messages can reduce the pressure of having to remember everything.

02

Flexible meeting times

We aim to offer suitable times and rearrange appointments when a difficult day makes the original time unrealistic.

03

No unnecessary pressure

Important decisions can be explained clearly and followed up in writing so you have time to think.

04

Clear written summaries

After a meeting, we can confirm what was agreed, what happens next and who is responsible for each action.

05

Smaller manageable steps

Large projects can be divided into clear priorities so you only need to focus on the next useful action.

06

Communication choices

Telephone, video, email, WhatsApp, voice notes and video notes can be combined around your preferences.

One main contact A familiar person who understands the project
Consistency matters

One main person, even when a team is helping.

Another Brilliant Idea offers several services, and different specialists may work behind the scenes.

Where possible, we give you one main point of contact. That person keeps track of the wider work, communicates with the team and helps prevent you from having to repeatedly explain the same situation.

You receive the benefit of a wider team without feeling passed from one unfamiliar person to another.
Support across your business

Focus on the work. Let us help with the rest.

Support can apply whether you are self-employed, starting a business or running a limited company.

Brainstorming

Talk through ideas, challenges and decisions with an outside perspective.

Business setup

Break down the steps involved in forming and organising a new business.

Accounts and invoices

Create invoices, record information and help keep financial administration organised.

Forms and applications

Work through forms together and help gather the required information.

Website support

Explain what you need verbally while we structure the wording, layout and technical work.

Customer communication

Help prepare emails, letters, quotations and professional responses.

Organisation

Create clear task lists, priorities and manageable next steps.

Ongoing support

Continue helping with the practical parts of running the business as needs change.

Genuine understanding

Some of our team understand this personally.

Members of our team have their own experience of anxiety and mental health challenges.

That does not mean we assume everyone has the same experience. It means we understand that a difficult day, missed message or rearranged meeting does not reflect a lack of ambition or commitment.

We care about providing practical, respectful support that helps our clients succeed.

The same prices. A more thoughtful service.

Clients with anxiety, disabilities or mental health challenges are valued clients, not charity cases.

We charge the same agreed rates for all clients.

We are a business and do not provide our work for free. However, reasonable adjustments, clear communication, flexibility and proactive support are part of delivering a good service.

We do not charge more because a client needs us to communicate or organise the work differently.

Could Access to Work help?

Access to Work may provide funding for practical workplace support when a disability or mental health condition creates barriers to employment or self-employment.

Business support, not clinical treatment

Another Brilliant Idea provides business, communication and administrative support. We are not a mental health treatment service and do not replace support from a GP, counsellor, psychiatrist or other qualified healthcare professional.

You want to work and be independent. Let us help with the business side.

Tell us what you are trying to achieve and what would make the process easier. We will listen, discuss practical adjustments and explain how our team may be able to support you.

Individual needs and experiences

Mental health conditions and challenges

We support clients with many different experiences. A condition may be temporary, recurring or ongoing, and two people with the same diagnosis may need completely different adjustments.

A

Anxiety disorders

Including generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety, health anxiety, panic disorder, panic attacks and phobias.

B

Bipolar disorder

Support can be adapted around changes in mood, energy, concentration, confidence and the ability to manage tasks.

D

Depression and low mood

Practical help may include gentle reminders, manageable next steps, flexible meetings and help with delayed tasks.

E

Eating disorders

We can consider the effect that appointments, health, energy levels and periods of increased difficulty have on running a business.

O

Obsessive compulsive disorder

OCD may affect time, concentration, decision-making, checking tasks and the ability to move on to the next job.

P

Personality disorders and complex emotional needs

Consistent communication, clear expectations and one main point of contact may help create a more predictable service.

P

Post-traumatic stress disorder

PTSD and trauma-related difficulties may affect trust, communication, concentration, meetings and responses to unexpected situations.

P

Psychosis and schizophrenia

Support is based on the individual, their work, their preferences and the practical barriers they are currently experiencing.

S

Stress and burnout

Business pressures, financial worries, workload and exhaustion can make ordinary administration and decisions much harder to manage.

A diagnosis does not tell us how to support you.

We listen to what you find difficult, what already works well and which reasonable adjustments would make using our services easier. You do not need to disclose more personal medical information than is necessary.
